The simplest of all methods of harvesting emails adopted by spammers is guessing email addresses and sending a text mail or the spam itself. By doing this they make sure whether the email they guessed is live or not by waiting for confirmation of delivery on reading. The email headers hence used are Return-Receipt-To: <email address> and X-Confirm-Reading-To: <email address>.
Another method of confirming a valid email address is sending HTML in the email's body embedding an image in it. When the email client opens that email, it require to decode the HTML.
However this method of harvesting email affect less to companies like IT outsourcingcompany. It is rather targeted to common human name as for example firsnam.lastname@domain.
