White Pages and Yellow Pages is from where one can get information of others online. There are various websites that serve as named people directory. There are sites that even gives email directories. Not just a softwaredevelopment company all types of companies put up their company's information on yellow pages so that people can reach them easily. But what they don't know is that these types of addresses are tempting target for spammers.
These so called white and yellow pages provides addresses of people from various sources such as UseNet. Another case is when you register in Hotmail your email address will be automatically added to BigFoot making your address available to the public. The same case happens not only to people but also companies like a struggling to survive IT outsourcingcompany.
There is hardly a way to avoid spammers but we can considerably reduce it by taking appropriate steps to counter the way they harvest our emails.
