Steps to Protecting Your Wireless Networks

In today's internet world wherein mobile technology and wireless networks have taken place of the wired data transfer system, you should not only be afraid of just malicious online threats. There is also another unknown threat and that is anyone with the same router as yours who accidentally connect to your network or who reconfigured you router and network and steal your bandwidth without you knowing anything of it. So, there is a need to protect your wireless networks and here is how you can do it:

First is to change your administrator password on your router. If you own an enterprise say a mobile apps development company, if you don't change your administrator password, you may land in serious trouble since every router comes with a pre-configured password which hackers know. They will then easily hack your password and gain full control over your network.

Second, you should stop broadcasting your network's SSID (Service Set Identifier). If you broadcast it then people can easily find your network and connect to it. Sometimes your wireless network broadcaster generates similar SSID therefore, passersby can easily guess your router's name and log on. You should therefore change your router's name and thereafter hide it.

Other ways of protecting your wireless network include encryption (which most mobile technology developers stress upon), protecting using MAC (Media Access Control) addresses, turning off the network when not in use and frequently checking for wireless intruders.

This is just an introduction to how to protect yourself from wireless network threats, stay connected to Oglacs' Blog for more updates

Hello,
The internet has seen a great deal of evolution from when it first started. From being a mere avenue for data processing and connectivity, it has quickly gained a knack for being socially oriented, creating a multi community rather than just simply being a data transfer protocol. Businesses have emerged within the virtual universe as social media marketing companies..
