What is iCloud?

You must have heard about the unveiling of Lion, iOS 5 and the iCloud by Apple recently. Today let me speak on the iCloud. iCloud simply a cloud based backup service by Apple for backing up data, downloading and sharing data from and to any Apple devices. Here, Apple devices includes your iMac desktops, iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc. The cloud technology has taken mobile technology to a brand new heights. Google's Android is the first mobile technology providing such services.

The function of iCloud is to allow syncing multimedia contents, documents and calendar with the device and the cloud. This will bring about a flexibility in the memory management of devices. This is great news to apple device users that they will be able to back up their data using iCloud. This is a great news because most of Apple's mobile devices come with limited memory capacity.

This new service will allow iPhone and iPad users back up their contacts and calendar entries to the cloud. If you are using iPhone applications or iPad applications, the apps too can store documents in iCloud, if any change is made on the document, the changed document is then updated on all devices.

These are few of the features that even mobile apps development companies are excited to learn about. I have provided just a glimpse of iCloud. Details on it will be available in my subsequent posts. Stay connected.
